Discover the world of coding

July 1st - 5th 2024
For ages 16+

Programming?

Are you interested in programming and don’t know where to start? 42 Luxembourg is here to help! Join us for our Discovery Piscine, a 5-day workshop where we’ll take your first steps into IT together. Instead of theory, you’ll learn coding via practical examples and build small projects in a group setting. This workshop is intended for students aged 16+ and you should be in your last or second to last year of school. If you’re curious about learning and hands-on exercises, we hope to see you from July 1st until July 5th!

The Plan

One week is enough to peek into the education of the future: solve problems in groups, research and adopt new technologies, and create your first, simple websites and interactions. The only prerequisite is that you have basic knowledge about using a computer and a browser!

You’ll learn how to navigate file systems, build your first website with HTML and CSS, and get to know the dynamic web by using Javascript – your first programming language.

What is 42?

42 is an international network of coding schools – innovative, different, and open to everybody. Instead of theory, 42 emphasises practical group work. Our mission is to help develop the coding superstars of tomorrow. Learn more about 42 Luxembourg and the details of our full-time curriculum on our website.

Practical information

The Discovery Piscine takes place from July 1st to July 5th 2024 in Belval (Esch-sur-Alzette) at 14, porte de France. A typical day lasts from 9 am until 4 pm and includes a variety of coding activities and breaks – don’t forget to bring your Restopolis card to eat at one of Belval’s canteens!

The first day we’ll meet at 9:00 am for a presentation of the program and a group breakfast to get to know each other. The rest of the days are a mix of self-driven project and group work, as well as feedback and evaluation sessions. A few staff members and students of 42 Luxembourg will help guide the participants through the Discovery Piscine and provide feedback.

Expect the program’s main language to be English, but we always have some staff around that can also speak French, German, and Luxembourgish.

Participating in the Discovery Piscine (just like 42 Luxembourg in general) is completely free. But spaces are limited, therefore make sure you sign up before June 24th below!

If you’re still enrolled in school and/or a minor, please also download the authorisation document below, fill out the appropriate form(s), and include it when you submit your registration.

In the event that students demonstrate inappropriate behaviour, i.e. show a lack of cooperation or behave disrespectfully, we will be obliged to cancel their participation immediately. We will inform the parents and school of our decision and the student will be required to return to school the next day.
